Something one of my best friends, Emily and I always talk about is the fact that our lives should be a television show. Or that we should be on a television show (Parenthood!!!). Or that Two Broke Girls stole our idea of two girls trying to succeed in the cupcake business (with less sexual references because that is just too awkward for us to handle). Something that my best friend sent me was this new television show, Best Friends Forever. NBC calls it "A boy-meets-girl's-best-friend" comedy, and it's perfect. Emily and I like to joke around and say that its basically us in the future. Here's the full episode for your viewing pleasure! (As a side note, NBC, I love this show. Please do not cancel it!)

Me to You: Love Competition
I'm a sucker for things like this.
Stanford neuroscientists host the world’s first love competition, asking contestants between the ages of 10 and 75 to spend 5 minutes in an fMRI machine thinking deeply about the person they love. The results are certain to bring a tear to your eye.
The older woman at 12:50 made me cry happy tears. I don't know if its the time (12:15am) or what, but things like this get me too emotional! I love love. I love what love does to people.

Me to You: fun.
You know when you get those cool free song cards from Starbucks? You basically just take it, even if you have no idea if you will like the song or not. That is basically how I discovered the band, Fun. Created after another one of my favourite bands, The Format, breaking up in 2008, Nate Ruesss moved to NYC and formed fun. with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff. Fun. is described as an "Indie pop/rock" band. The first song I heard from that little card at Starbucks, was "All the Pretty Girls", from their debut album "Aim and Ignite".
On February 21st, their second album, "Some Nights" will be released. I've had an early listen, and it's really good. The song 'Some Nights' is what I've been listening to whenever I walk to each of my classes at college. It makes you want to move and/or join a parade. The band already released the single, "We Are Young", which has already been used on Glee. Check it out below.
I plan on going to see Fun. this April in Toronto, and I'm really excited to hear this album live. Pre-order their album from iTunes here.

Me To You: Lana Del Ray
The internet recently exploded with this girl. Her name is Lana Del Ray, and she is an American singer/songwriter whose voice is so bone chillingly beautiful, it makes me want to weep because my singing voice sounds like a dying cow. Her real name is Lizzy Grant, and she used to be a wild child and spend her days writing poetry in coffee shops.
After a little bit of a mess up during SNL, and even though her album was leaked, I can guarantee that her new album, Born To Die, is worth a listen!

Me To You: Pinterest!
You can also pin other things from other websites! It's rather great. Since I'm currently in an interior design obsession, I've been pinning lots of different ideas for my future home! And lots of clothing DIY's that I want to do, for example: this DIY to make an elbow patch sweater (that I've been wanting for over a year!). And a variety of photos of Michelle William and Karen Gillan because they have things I want to have: a pixie cut, and red hair.
Pinterest is the perfect website for anyone interested in compiling photos of ideas and objects! You can request an invite to Pinterest here! And feel free to follow mine here!

Me To You: The Fault In Our Stars
I love John Green. I read Looking for Alaska two and a half years ago, and a few days later read Paper Towns. I read Let It Snow during Christmas 2012, and I read Will Grayson, Will Grayson and An Abundance of Katherine's last year. John Green has a way of captivating readers with such diverse and complex characters, and The Fault In Our Stars is no different.
"The Fault, Dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings."
If you need a great read, and you feel like emotionally investing yourself into these beautifully written characters, I really recommend it. The only complaint with this book: It ended far too quickly.
You can buy The Fault In Our Stars here!

Me to You: The Maine, Pioneer
So I may be a tad biased (due to the fact that they are some of the nicest guys and one of the best bands I've ever seen live!), and everyone is probably getting sick of me going on about this, but Pioneer, the new album from The Maine, is absolutely perfect.
It has been just over a month since it was self-released, (meaning that there was no major record label telling them what to do and how to do it), and I haven't stopped listening to it since. It's kind of a daily must to listen to at least a few songs, but I usually listen to the album straight from beginning to end.
If you have never heard of The Maine before, they are a band from Arizona who has morphed from a pop sound, like their album, "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", to more of a rock vibe, like their album "Black and White", and now, the most raw and real, their album Pioneer.
The first time I heard of The Maine was back in 10th grade. I will admit that I loved the pop sound back then, but now at 19, I have outgrown it, and it seems like The Maine has too. When I first heard Pioneer, the only words I could say were "Woah. Wow. This. Is. Good." The lyrics are more real, John O'Callaghan's voice is more raw, and it feels like you're going through a million feelings while listening to it.
This just proves to anyone that you don't need a major record label, co-writers, or auto-tune to make a good album nowadays.

Me to You: The Single Girls To-Do List

If there is something that I am used to, its being single. So what better way to deal with my single status by reading a book about a single girl! I picked up The Single Girl's To-Do List a few weeks ago from my local library, and immediately fell in love.
Written by Lindsey Kelk, who wrote the "I Heart ____" novels, has written one of the most relatable characters that I've ever read about. Rachel Summers, I feel is the Bridget Jones of this generation. In short, Rachel gets dumped out of the blue by her boyfriend of 5 years. Like myself, she is big on list making. As a way of dealing with her breakup, Rachel and her two friends, Matthew and Emelie, create a list called "The Single Girls To-Do List", which is filled with challenges and goals that she must overcome and accomplish.
Throughout the book, I laughed out loud, I said "NO! RACHEL! Why are you doing this! Go after him!", and fell in love unexpectedly with someone in the book. Rachel deals with creeps at the supermarket, attractive yoga instructors, and her high school crush whose moved from London to Toronto. Rachel turns into her own person; not someone who has to rely on a significant other. She even makes comments about the way her crush uses "lol" during a Facebook conversation! (Sounds just like me!)
Not only has it been such a pleasure to read it, Lindsey Kelk wrote in Doctor Who and Mad Men references, so perfect! “It’s one thing to take a girl’s toothpaste, it’s another to take her Don Draper—.” Quirky Rachel and Spunky Rachel are both women that I shall strive to be like in my daily life. WWRSD? What would Rachel Summers do?
Hilarious and written in a perfect perspective, The Single Girls To-Do List is perfect for anyones bookshelf, if you're single or not.
