Inspiration: Pastel

(x)

I, like many teenagers on the internet, am in love with pastel hair. I think it looks beautiful on everyone, regardless of hair length. I've had friends with orange, blue, teal, and pink hair, and it always looks so good on them!

When I fell in love, it all happened while watching the 2012 Red Carpet coverage for the Oscars. I saw Kelly Osbourne's hair colour, wearing her beautiful sequin embellished gown. I loved it when it was grey, but after she dyed it with a slit purple tint, I fell in love! It's perfect. I really wish I could have this colour, but due to my dark hair and the fact bleaching hair kinda scares me, it may never happen!

Inspiration: Pucker Up!

I love when artists do something out of the ordinary. I found out about Natalie Irish on tumblr. She makes portraits by applying lipstick and puckering up to kiss the canvas. It's so creative and the outcome looks amazing. Check out her paintings here.

Inspiration: Tattoos

I know they aren't everyones cup of tea, but lately I've really been interested in tattoos. After seeing my friend Amanda's, I've been especially interested in hand/finger/arm tattoos. Nothing filled in. Nothing too fancy. I really like simplicity, just outlines really!

So in love with this placement of Katy Perry's tattoo. My professors keep telling us that if you get a visible tattoo, you'll have to cover it up while at work. So frustrating! I keep thinking about how this generation will start to take over the workforce and be more open to the idea of tattoos and other things. If I do get a tattoo (fingers crossed!), I'd like to get it on my finger or where Katy has hers!

Inspiration: Watercolour!

Watercolour is my favourite medium to use. I love the different ways you can create effects (using salt, dry brush, etc.). Here are a few of my current favourite pieces of artwork that I found floating on tumblr!

Inspiration: Maps, Maps, Maps

There is something about the world that is really interesting to us humans. I think we all have a little hint of wanderlust in us, and I bet we all would love to throw a dart at a map and go there tomorrow. But for now, I'm going to be gazing the world through art. I really enjoy installations of other objects into art, and something that is really inspiring me lately is the use of maps in art.

This "Travel Wardrobe" from Annex is absolutely stunning. If I could afford one of these pieces, I would definitely buy the paris dress and hang it on my wall.

I think wanderlust and creativity go hand in hand. With wanderlust, you have a desire to see the world; with creativity you have an ability/desire to create. I can't wait to incorporate my wanderlust with my artwork. Perhaps with a piece like this?

Inspiration: Scrapbooking & Typography

(source: rocketrictic)

So, surely there are a lot of you girls out there who love a good soppy quote or a movie filled with wonderful words which you doodle down or write on a social networking site. I was browsing around Flickr the other day when I stumbled upon these wonderful pieces of art. This artist's work is basically a quote beautifully presented using watercolour or marker, it definitely inspired me. I like sitting in a huge mess and slopping a load of things into my scrapbook so these typography pieces have creeped into my work.

In my scrapbook I included two quotes I found and took Rocketrictic's idea into consideration."Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light." Now all you Potter lovers will know this came from the wonderful Albus Dumbledore. J.K.Rowling is amazing with words. The photo on the next page is a little edit from one I have on one of my earlier pages - I changed the way it looked on photoshop and I included it here on top of a photo I took of the sea because I feel like it fits the quote. I took the photo at a time when I was trying to overcome the hatred of how I look ... the original photo was so bad I went onto photoshop and edited. I feel like what Dumbledore said is true, happiness can be found, I just had to turn on the light myself. And I did, and I'm a lot more comfortable with how I look now. The next "I never really understood the point of social interaction." isn't really a quote, I just saw it on tumblr and loved it because I completely agree. I do enjoy being a hermit and sitting in alone on my computer, or doing my art, or reading a book. It's just a nice way of saying hey, I'm not a huge fan of being social. Don't get me wrong, I love a party or going out with my friends. But, I'd choose staying in over going out all the time.
